NEMO

THE DR. PHILBILLY SHOW

A few years ago I went on an

annual Kayaking trip with some

friends. Not bragging or anything

but I’m pretty good on the water so

I was stoked to show off my mar-

itime abilities.

About halfway down the river

I hit a small class five rapid and almost died, but with a

lot of screaming like a 12 year old little girl and crying

like a baby I had managed to skillfully maneuver my way

through it.

Ok so it wasn’t a class five rapid, it was more like a

class five trickle. Anyway, the point is I made it. I lost

my hat and my bathing suit turned into a pair of thongs,

but I made it.

Once I was right side up again I had noticed a pool of

water had formed in my seat and somehow a minnow had

gotten trapped between my legs. He must have been good

luck for me so I named him Nemo and continued down

the remaining treacherous leg of my journey.

Navigating through the river wild had left me starv-

ing so I reached into my snack bag and enjoyed a deli-

cious can of beanie weenies while Nemo and I just drifted

in the peaceful solitude of God’s country.

Facing certain death will change a man and I was be-

coming one with nature. The sun was brighter and the

sounds of nature more clear. Nemo and I had formed a

bond, an unspoken understanding between man and

beast.

Then the beanie weenies started to kick in high gear.

My stomach was churning and growling. I looked down

at Nemo and he looked up at me. Our eyes locked, it was

a beautiful moment. Then my stomach churned again

and without warning a flurry of bubbles popped up be-

tween my legs rendering me momentarily unconscious.

I’m not quite sure how long I had drifted before I

came to, but when I looked down poor little Nemo was

floating belly up. He never had a chance, but I’ll never

forget you Nemo… I’m just sayin’!
