24 Gulf Pine Catholic • February 2, 2024 Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary St. James Court #006 held our Centennial Celebration at the Bay St. Louis Community Center. The Court was formed with the fundamental mission to carry on the objectives of our Noble Order, and it has over the years supported the local Bishops, parishes, pastors, St. Augustine Seminary, and the Diocese of Biloxi. We have instilled friendship, unity and Christian charity -- collectively participating in parish and community activities; pro- moting civic improvements and social justice; encour- aging apostolic works and Catholic action; making contributions to worthwhile causes; awarding scholar- ships and supporting many educational endeavors; fostering recreational activities, developing youth; and providing social and intellectual fellowship for all. St. James Court #006’s first Grand Lady was Lady Naomi Farve elected in 1923 and Lady Thyra Labat 2023. St. James Court #006’s oldest serving member is Lady Elaine Piernas -- 75 years. J ames C ourt #006 K nights of C olumbus Father Harry Wade Council #7910 Father Harry Wade Knights of Columbus Council #7910 from St. Joseph Parish, Gulfport, announced their Knight of the Month for January at their monthly meeting on January 4. E lizabeth S eton P arish , O cean S prings The St. Elizabeth Seton Altar Society met in Ocean Springs on January 13 with the new officers shown above: l-r: Donna Dunbar, treasurer; Linda Boyd, secretary; Carolyn Bourg, president; and Debbie Previto, vice-president. Plans were made for the 2024 year which include cleaning the altar each week, taking care of the linens and special events including a St. Joseph Altar, decorating the altar for Lent, May Crowning and a Membership Tea in August, which has been successful the past two years.Our Thanksgiving altar is always a big hit, as well.
