Coaches are Lucas Schmermund, Jason Weaver, andLydia Kirk. On March 16, Our Lady of Fatima sixth grader, Philomene Kirk, continued her Elks Hoop Shoot journey in Valdosta, GA. She competed in the south- east regional competition shooting a humble 17/25 free-throws to advance to nationals! On Saturday, April 20, in Chicago, IL, she will represent not only the Southeast Region 12, 10-11-year-old division, but also the state of Mississippi, Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School, and the Biloxi Elks lodge #606. Junior Girls Division CYO basketball champions 2024 S t . S tanislaus C ollege , B ay S t . L ouis The SSC sailing team emerged victorious at the Mississippi State Championships held at the Bay Waveland Yacht Club on March 16-17. The team captains, Devon Guille and Ruston Breisacher, showcased their skills in fleet racing, securing the first place in every race. Aidan Castle and Lane Burroughs also performed exceptionally well, with top three finishes in each race. With their combined scores, Stanislaus claimed the top spot. Landon Newton and Kade Johnston joined the others, form- ing a triumphant trio in the Team Racing competi- tion. Sailing Rocks Sailing Team Wins Championship St. Stanislaus has nominated senior Heith Shinn for the Lindy Callahan Scholar-Athlete Award in Mississippi. This award is given to outstanding seniors from eight districts across the state who have made exceptional con- tributions both academically and athletically. Heith has played baseball, basketball, and football for the Rocks. He was an integral part of the baseball team that won the South State Championship in 2023, playing as the starting catch- er. In football, he served as the team’s long snapper and defensive back and played as a point guard in basketball. Heith is a member of several organizations including the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Student Ambassadors, and Student Ministry. He has maintained a cumulative unweighted GPA of 4.0, which places him in the top 10% of his class. He has taken six AP courses and eight Honors courses as part of his academic studies.
