Gulf Pine Catholic

14 Gulf Pine Catholic • September 13, 2024 The St. Mary, Biloxi, Prayer Shawl Ministry held a “GREET AND MEET” event after each Mass on the weekend of August 10 and 11 as part of its third-anniversary celebration. The narthex was arrayed with samples of the beautiful, blessed shawls, quilts, and afghans provided to individuals or their caregivers/family members who may be experiencing illness, grief, or other painful circum- stances. Over 180 blessed items have been distribut- ed to individuals both within and outside the parish. Parishioners were provided the Ministry's colorful tri-fold brochure, mini-crocheted granny squares, and other swag reminders; a picture album and the tri-fold display shared history of the ministry's many accomplishments. The ministry welcomes new members, experi- enced and inexperienced “crafters” alike. Donations of yarn, fabric, thread, and sewing notions are appre- ciated. If a loved one has left behind an unfinished needlework item, the ministry is willing to consider accepting the item for completion by one of its tal- ented members; the completed work would then be returned to the family. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Further information can be obtained by calling the St. Mary office at (228) 392- 1999.
