Leisure World Cloggers Submitted by Joyce Loland The Leisure World Cloggers begin their regular season the first week in November with the return of nationally recognized instructor Anne Mills. After a summer of maintaining and improving their skills under the direction of Cathy Martin and Fran Dusek, cloggers now look forward to learning new steps and dances with Anne. At the Activities Fair on November 5, cloggers will present demonstration dances to inspire residents to take a clogging class. Classes are held on Fridays in the classroom next to the Fitness Center. True beginner classes are free! They start November 2 and run through December. If you already have some clogging experience, Intermediate 1 meets at 1 p.m. For more experienced cloggers, Intermediate 2 meets at 2 p.m. and Intermediate 3 at 3 p.m. All classes begin on November 2. The cost of the class is $8 weekly. For this fee, you are welcome to dance in more than one session that day. We invite everyone—men and women—to join the fun. Clogging is a great way to exercise your mind and body! For more information, contact Fran Dusek at 602-684-9353. Desert Bells Chorus Submitted by Katie McFarland It’s time for a new season of the magic and joy of singing together! The Desert Belles meet every Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the Music Room for Barber Shop Chorus, where all the songs are sung in four-part harmony. All are invited to try us out. The Arizona summer hardy members have not been singing but eating all summer and meeting monthly at local restaurants. The fellowship has been grand! Now, we are singing and this year’s songs have us swinging to some old-time favorites such as “All My Loving,” “At the Hop,” “Book of Love” and “Yesterday.” The harmony in the Desert Belles is more than just in the singing! It’s a fun time so come join us! Mixed Chorus Submitted by Bruce Collier Attention, singers and holiday fans! Isn’t “Winter Wonderland” sounding awesome? If you are already with us, you know we are acing this! It has never sounded better, but a lot of our loyal warblers feel that “Baby It’s Cold Outside” wins hands down. That is a favorite and we step up like never before! Did I mention we are rehearsing for our upcoming renowned December show? Believe it or not, there is still time for you to join us. Have you ever sung “Christmas in Country Style” or “Grown Up Christmas List”? Have you heard “Jingle Bells Through the Ages”? We’re doing it. And the favorite, “Fa, La La, La La,” gets a special treatment by our chorus. You will love “Christmas Alleluias” and “Bell Carol of the Kings,” both oozing with tradition. We bring the “African Noel” in from another world and return home with “Come See The Baby,” “A Whisper, A Candle, A Promise,” “A Carol Celebration” and the perennial favorite, “Hallelujah Chorus.” A rousing end to a beautiful performance! We practice twice a week until our big shows in December. Come see what we are doing every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 - 3 p.m. All rehearsals take place in the Music room located in the back of Rec. 2 near October Special January Special $2 Off Regular & Senior Haircut *Valid Daily Specializing in Men’s & Boy’s Cuts All the Old-Fashioned Traditional Specials 1121 S.
