Leisure World News • Community • November 2018 A3 Administrative Announcements Bev Johnson When new resident Bev Johnson decided to escape Iowa’s cold winters, she did her homework. It wasn’t long before her choice became clear. “LeisureWorld offeredme everything I wanted,” she says. “I picked it because it offered me security, and I heard nothing but good things about it. I visited and said, ‘This is my cup of tea.’” Despite being blind, Bev is eager to take part in everything Leisure World offers. “I think life should be fun, and God blessed me with blindness for a reason,” she shares. “I’m a widow, but I like going out for lunches. I love concerts, dancing and movies. I do it all.” Born in Redfield, Iowa, Bev and her late husband, Gary, lived in Iowa, Missouri, California and Colorado. She was a bank teller until becoming a mother to her adopted son Matthew in 1977—what she considers, “the best job ever.” While at Leisure World, Bev plans to join the Lions Club. She also looks forward to hiking and has already hiked trails by the Salt River and the Superstition Mountains with a friend. Say hello to Bev when you see her. That is, if you can catch up with her!
