Leisure World News • Golf • November 2018 B25 Coyote Run Women’s Golf Association Submitted by Linda Anhorn November is a busy and fun month for the Coyote Run Women’s Golf Association (CRWGA). This is the month that many of our snowbird friends “fly” into Leisure World and are ready to participate in the many activities available in Leisure World. It is also the time of year when year-round residents are finally able to enjoy the outdoors in more temperate conditions. The CRWGA has its kickoff to the new golf season beginning in November. Our first Brown Bag meeting, which is a brief business meeting while we eat our lunch, will be held on November 6 at 11 a.m. in the Music Room at Rec. 2, followed by afternoon golf at 12:30 p.m. and socializing at the Pavilion after our round is completed. This is a joyous time as we reconnect with our golf friends, share hugs, laughter and many stories. On November 13, we are having our first ‘Growing Golf ’ event for our league. This is an opportunity for non-members to come and play at a reduced green fee followed by our Welcome Back Pizza party. If you have been thinking about giving our women’s league a try, this would be a good chance to see how this group operates. The game of the day is a fun and non- threatening one chosen by our Games Committee. Important Opportunity : There will be a change to several golf rules in 2019. A Golf Rules Seminar will be held at Leisure World for ALL women on November 15 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.in the Rec. 1 Ballroom. A sign-up sheet will be at the Rec. 2 bulletin board next to the Pro Shop. Our two-day Eclectic Tournament will be held on November 27 and 30. This is a fun event because you get to use the best score you shot on each hole. The individual hole’s scores are posted on the 27th and if you improve upon any hole on the 30th, your score is changed. Everyone has a good chance of winning and groups are based upon handicaps. It’s a great way to start the season with some friendly competition. We also want to thank Don Cooley of San Tan Golf Carts for donating $100 for the KP prizes. Don took the opportunity to purchase $250 of advertising for this season’s tournaments. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the Coyote Run Golf Pro Shop to obtain information about the application and fees. We would love to add new members to our league. We are a fun group, so come and give us a try! Guys and Dolls Submitted by Carole Foley Guys and Dolls is a couples (one man and one woman) golf group at Heron Lakes. The winning team, Bob Young, Don Duesenberg, Ray Haug, and Rich Bogart was 12 under par, which is a magnificent score. Second place was two under par, 10 strokes behind. That lucky foursome was Jim Pasek, Ken Steele, Joe Miola and Ted “Curley” Richardson. The competition on September 24 was three best balls. Our foursome had a difficult time and was only five under par. The winning team, however, was 29 under par! Wow! They were: Rich Blum, Ted “Curley” Richardson, Bill Irving and Ken “Mighty” Meidl. The team of Bob Young, Rich “Bogie” Bogart, Ray “Sarge” Haug and Tobby Baca was second at 16 under par. Only two places were paid. Monday’s competition on October 1 was washed out by a storm Rosa. “Money Man” Mullen, Jeff Sanders, “Putt, Putt” Perkins and Dallas Piper won the competition Monday, October 8with a score of 20 under par. Do not call the Security Department. Why? The 911 operator needs details about the emergency that security staff can’t answer. It takes precious time away from getting the proper help and the operator can determine which services to dispatch. The 911 operator also normally calls LW Security to alert them of the emergency and to inquire about the quickest access to reach the person(s) in need.
