Scrabble Club Submitted by Carolin Lowy All residents who enjoy spelling games, crossword puzzles, reading and just hanging out with your neighbors, we meet throughout the year every Monday evening at the Lakeside Club House at Rec.v1. Games officially begin at 6:30 p.m. However, enthusiastic participants are known to start playing by 6:15 p.m. The club has all the supplies needed, including official dictionaries and word lists as per The International Scrabble group. Scrabble and Upwords are the two games available. We have the super large Scrabble board that has 400 squares that creates very interesting and high scoring games. For more information, please contact Carolin Lowy at 480-641-4626 Ceramics Club Submitted by Laura Krever The Ceramics Club is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts building. The annual membership fee is $15. We normally have an instructor at Leisure World two days a month but have yet to determine when these classes will resume. For now, we go to the Bits and Pieces Ceramics store for our Tuesday classes twice a month. For more information, please contact Dave Clegg at 480-854-0991. Leisure World Quilters Submitted by Carol Stickling I hope everyone is enjoying our wonderful Arizona weather! February was a very productive month. We completed our Monsters in the Closet Quilt and had enough monsters left to make a second quilt. In March, we will be making a lap quilt pattern called “Wonky Star” using half-square triangles. On March 19, we will be participating in the Spring Craft Fair. We will have quilts and other miscellaneous items for sale in the Queen Card Room. A quilt will be raffled off and tickets may be purchased from any of our quilt group members. We will have our spring luncheon in March for all our members with good food and great conversations! For more information, please contact Merrilly Strom at 480-699-9352 or Linda Phar at 480-510-0498. Leisure World Woodworking Club Submitted by Larry Bair The woodworkers are busy in the Wood Shop building projects to please and accommodate others. Projects big and small require the use of fine tools owned by the club. Our annual club membership fee is $20. Being a club member is the best deal in Leisure World for those interested in woodworking. In addition to the use of quality hand and power tools, shop members are very willing to share their skills with other club members. The club is preparing donations to the Spring Craft Fair. For more information and to enroll, please drop by the Wood Shop. Twiddlers, Friday Morning Knitters and Crocheters Submitted by Carolin Lowy First, a big thank you to everyone that has donated yarn and supplies to our groups. We meet every Monday and Friday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Queen Card Room at Rec. 1. Do you need help with a project or want to learn something new? If so, we are the group to join! Our ongoingWarmup America project keeps on growing. If you want to learn about this project is, come on by! For more information, please call Carolin Lowy at 480-641-4626.
