The Federalist were pamphlets drafted by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay that were published to persuade the 13 colonies to endorse and vote on a new Federal Government designed under a new written document, the constitution of the United States of America. This course will examine and analyze the concepts underlying our U.S. constitution as laid out in the federalist papers. The classes include an excellent video from the Great Courses discussing the underlying principles of American Federalism, popular sovereignty and states’ rights, the separation of powers, the federal legislature, the president of the United States, the federal judiciary and much more! Explanation and open discussion will follow each video. Start: Mar. 8 When: Tuesdays for three more weeks Time: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Place: Rec. 1 Theater New Frontiers for Lifelong Learning Presentation on the Federalist Papers
