If you have not signed up for the Leisure World e-blast communication, please do so to receive updated registration information. If you register for a class with Silver Sneakers®/ Flex®, Silver & Fit®, or Renew Ac- tive®, you are required to attend 100% of the classes for the month. A $2 fee will be charged to your account for each class missed. As a reminder, we have launched a new Group Exercise Calendar with new classes, a new class progression rating system and new workshop. It gives us an excuse to reset and focus on our nutrition again. We hope you’re still crushing your wellness-related New Year’s resolutions! For the rest of us, this month gives us an opportunity to reflect inward and make tangible changes to our diets or workout regimens. It could be as simple as adding another veggie or fruit to every meal. Five Ways to Eat Healthy Long, long ago, Hippocrates said, “Let thy food be thy medicine!” But this sentiment still rings true today. National Nutrition Month stresses the importance of a balanced diet and exercise. Use the month to promote the transformative powers of healthy food choices you make! Here are five suggestions to get started! 1. Go, Go, H2O: We all know drinking water helps in nearly every aspect of wellness, but drinking the recommended amount of water per day can be tough. Electrolyte additives offer the same, if not better benefits, then drinking six or more glasses of water a day would. 2. Choose Food Over Supplements: Alhough there are some who sincerely lack certain vitamins and minerals that can’t be achieved through diet alone, most of the good things our bodies need come from food — not store-bought supplements. Research shows that certain supplements have not been tested to meet many purity and safety standards, making themunreliable sources of nutrition. 3. Opt for Color: When in doubt, throw some color on your plate — natural color, that is. Bright greens from crunchy vegetables or vibrant reds from tangy fruit will not only make your meal Instagram-worthy, they will give you a healthy boost. 4. Shop the Perimeter: Shoppinga supermarket’s outside aisles ensures that you’re getting healthy alternatives to processed foods like produce, meat, and dairy. When you move inward, most, if not all, of the products contain unnecessary additives and sugar. When we eat real, nourishing foods, we are getting a wealth of vitamins and minerals that support healthy internal function and also give skin, hair and nails an extra glow. Look good and feel good! The Oasis Health Spa has weekly activities planned for you during March. Stop by the Fitness Center to pick up and complete each activity. Turn in the completed activities to be entered into raffle prize drawings! Use this month to set some new nutrition goals while having fun at the same time! All new for 2022, the Fitness Center Team is hosting “Find Your Fit Welcome to Fitness!” We are eager to introduce our team members, share information on our Group Exercise Classes including types of classes, how to register, and insurance plans that could make your class complimentary. In addition, we will explain the types of fitness equipment we have and offer suggestions for getting started with exercise. Whether you are brand new to exercise or have a lifetime of experience, we would love to meet you and help enhance your experience at the Oasis Health Spa Fitness Center!
