You can be fit at any age by focusing on healthy aging and remaining active. Life is better when you eat healthy, sleep well, exercise and have positive social interactions. When you combine exercise with social interactions you get the best of both worlds. Exercise can reduce stress, improve your self-esteem and keep you living independently. Our new Level 2 Forever Fit class is the perfect complement to your healthy lifestyle. This class will incorporate short, low impact cardio intervals between sets of weight-bearing exercises to increase strength and bone density. It will be a full body workout to include balance challenges and flexibility. You will also learn how to successfully get on and off the floor with or without a chair as needed. By developing muscular strength you’ll feel stronger, have more confidence and help eliminate falls. Strength training can help improve many health issues like osteoporosis, diabetes, depression, heart conditions and so much more. Your age does not matter but staying fit does! Forever Fit Imagine yourself sitting in your easy pose (crisscross legs or legs extended). Your eyes are closed while focusing on your breathing. Practice Ujjayi (pronounced U-jeye) breathing by inhaling slowly through your nose and exhaling slowly through the nose to keep your breath warm. Center yourself and release any negative energy that does not serve you. Vinyasa Yoga is one of the most popular forms of yoga in the world. This flowing style of yoga helps develop a mind-body connection through breath. It enables you to be intentional with your movements as you flow fluidly from pose to pose. You will gain awareness of proper body alignment, strength and flexibility with continued practice. Participants must be able to get up and down off the floor. It is encouraged to bring your own mat and a large towel. Yoga Flow The Zumba Gold program retains the core Zumba design but caters more to active older exercisers than Zumba Fitness. Zumba Gold is a lower-intensity version of the typical Zumba class andwas designed tomeet the anatomical, physiological and psychological needs of seniors. This cardio program offers easier-to-follow moves that focus on low joint impact, making it safer for active older adults to practice. It focuses on improving or restoring range of motion, strengthening posture and bolstering the bones, all while having a fun workout! Zumba Gold Expand your exercise repertoire or perfect your form during April! Learn the proper technique for many of the most popular functional free weight exercises. These exercises are a progression from a “machine-based” workout to enhance your activities of daily living.
