They had lunch in the airport’s restaurant while waiting for their return flight plan to be approved and the plane to be refueled. What a birthday celebration! Lou couldn’t have imagined a better one! On Thursday, March 10, 2022 the Leisure Word Lions will host a fundraiser, “Lions’ Spring Fling!” And it is “eggs”actly what you need in the Hopi Pima Room at Rec 2. This is an evening of dinner, entertainment and a raffle/ auction of prizes large and small. Tom’s barbecue is catering the event with pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw and beans with all the trimmings. A dessert cake is included with the meal! This is a BYOB event. The Lions will provide coffee and soft drinks. Entertainment will be a DJ spinning our musical favorites for a fun evening of dancing. The gala starts at 5:00 p.m. with happy hour, followed by dinner and then the raffle and auction. The evening closes with the 50/50 drawing after the DJ has thoroughly delighted us. The raffle prizes include a kitchen package of small appliances, Terry Redlin framed art, liquor packages, Southwestern décor, decorator vases, restaurant gift cards and much more! Raffle tickets are $2 each, or 3 for $5, and will be sold at the function. The auction items are a handmade quilt and a designer sculpture by Gaylord Ho valued at over $500. Tickets are $22 each and are available now at the Recreation Department. The proceeds from the event will support local veterans’ organizations.
