“Before I joined the military, I was in college and doing absolutely horrible. I couldn’t keep my mind on my studies at all. So I enlisted and while I was a part of the Air Force life I learned to put my life in perspective. Besides the training and experience I received as an account specialist, I learned discipline, order, and respect. “After leaving the Service, I went back to col- lege and was able to excel in my classes be- cause of how I had learned to manage my life. I became a System Analyst and com- pleted a successful career. An armistice is an agreement by opposing sides in a war to end the fight- ing, according to dictionary.com. The name was changed to Veterans day on June 1, 1954 to honor all U.S. veterans. Take time to thank any and all veterans you encounter this month. They may be older vet- erans as those quoted in this article who may be harder to identify or more recent veterans who may be friends or family members, male or female. But this year, find a veteran and give thanks for the veteran because they gave of themselves to give home and com- fort to you.
