Consilium Design has been chosen by Flightline Ventures LLC to provide land planning and landscape architecture for the 22-acre historic Stanley Aviation site in Aurora. Consilium Design will work with the Stanley Marketplace development team to re-create the property into a mixed-use commercial retail and event center that will offer offices, dining, retail, specialty grocer and recreation amenities, including a six-acre open space park with terraces and event terraces complementing the commercial and retail marketplace. “Stanley Marketplace will become the cornerstone redevelopment for the Westerly Creek Village Urban Renewal Plan in northwest Aurora, Colorado, adjacent to the nationally and internationally acclaimed Stapleton, Denver, Colorado, master-planned community,” said Craig Karn, president of Consilium Design. “The Stanley Marketplace will become a vibrant neighborhood destination center for the community. It will add a wonderful environmental experience in this renewed economic development, cultural, historical setting.” The project is scheduled to open in fall 2015. The project team also includes White Construction Group, gkkworks, ME Group, Studio NYL and Jansen Strawn. Originally constructed in 1954 and added onto several times, for years the 133,000-squarefoot property and the surrounding 22 acres at 2501 Dallas St. in Aurora, was the home of Stanley Aviation, an avionics manufacturer, until it closed in 2009. The building and land has been vacant since. At the Stanley building, proposed mezzanine additions will boost the square footage to roughly 144,000 sf with surrounding land available for further development.
