Northeastern Junior College located in Sterling, is one of the state’s best two-year schools, providing a diverse program in arts and humanities. The renovation of E.S. French Hall included the expansion of the main lobby, classrooms, galleries, performance and support spaces, including the 550-seat, proscenium-style Dorthy J. Corsberg Theatre, where the acoustical finishes and materials, the audiovisual (AV) system, the technical intercom, the assistive listening systems, theater rigging, drapery, and the performance lighting systems were all replaced. A new flexible drama classroom/theater space, complete with a pipe grid, was created for rehearsals, instructional use or small performances, much like an experimental or black box theater. D. L. Adams Associates Inc. was the acoustical and theatrical consultant for the project and provided analyses and acoustical recommendations to address sound isolation and mechanical noise for the entire building and designed all of the theater performance systems.
