GE Johnson recently completed the first phase of renovations and additions to Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs. The project, which began in 2015, was designed by CRP Architects. The first phase of the project included new administration offices, student commons, counseling spaces, math and science classrooms, and a new cafeteria and kitchen. Phase II will replace the existing academic wings, which were constructed in 1962 and 1967, with approximately 36,000 square feet of new construction to achieve a single, enclosed campus. The second phase is scheduled for completion in December. “GE Johnson’s relationship with District 12 spans decades, but this project also carried special personal interest for me,” said Jim Johnson, president and CEO of GE Johnson Construction Co. and Cheyenne Mountain High School alumnus. “We are honored, humbled and thrilled to be a part of the educational excellence that Cheyenne Mountain High School is known for,” said Brian Risley, principal architect and president of CRP Architects. “Their new facility now aligns with their reputation as one of the best high schools in the nation and will serve as the platform upon which unparalleled curricular opportunities can be delivered.” GE Johnson has completed projects across 14 states and maintains offices in Colorado Springs, Denver and Vail; Casper and Jackson, Wyoming; and Oklahoma City.
