Holland Partner Group and North America Sekisui House LLC recently topped out the third and final tower for Union Denver, a LEED Gold mixed-use community. Located at the corner of 17th and Wewatta streets in downtown Denver, adjacent to Denver’s Historic Union Station, Union Denver will be home to Whole Foods Market’s new 56,000-square foot flagship Denver store. “As with any Holland project, we strive to provide high-quality services, memorable touch points, and amenities for the residents and the surrounding community,” said Reed Ruck, managing director of development for Holland. “The addition of Whole Foods Market to the development improves the quality of life downtown. The topping out of the third tower is yet another important milestone toward the successful completion of this environmentally conscious mixed-use community in the heart of Denver.” The building will open up to residents in three phases. The first phase opens in May while the second phase opens later this summer and the third phase early next year. Union Denver is comprised of approximately 67,000 sf of ground-floor retail, one level of underground parking and two full levels of above-grade parking. Sitting on top of the retail/parking will stand three 10-story towers containing approximately 580 residential units (including 80 penthouse units with upgraded finishes and unique floor plans). The three towers will be connected by a central amenity building, surrounded by three separate outdoor recreation and living areas. Davis Partnership designed the project while Holland Construction Inc. is building it. The 20,000-sf amenity building will feature a 6,000-sf upscale fitness facility, unique commissioned art from local artists, kitchen and lounge area, game room, theater room and several conference rooms for resident use. The outdoor amenity spaces will offer a resort-style swimming pool, multiple spas, outdoor kitchens and grilling areas, as well as private outdoor living areas with fireplaces and fire pits. Each Whole Foods Market store is custom created for the community it serves. This location will feature décor elements that reflect the history of LoDo and Denver at large. The store also will offer expansive seating indoors and outdoors as well as catering and delivery. The outdoor seating options are both at a 17th Street plaza level and a mezzanine level that overlooks Union Station.
