Windsor Life Page 16 POOL OPERATING HOURS Outdoor Pool O O Open everyday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. O O Pool area is closed everyday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for cleaning and mowing. O O There is no lifeguard on guard duty from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. or from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.; swim at your own risk during those times. Indoor Pool O O Open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. O O Indoor pool is closed for cleaning from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. The indoor pool will also be closed all day for cleaning June 11 through June 15. O O With a signed liability waiver you may swim from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., except for during cleaning on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and during class times. O O There is no lifeguard on duty at the indoor pool. O O Visitors are not allowed in the indoor pool. Summer Swim Do you know a certified lifeguard who would like to work a few mornings a week? While the shifts are only four hours, the pay may be the best in Denver! The job consists primarily of guarding but also includes cleaning the pool, picking up trash and straightening the pool furniture after children’s swim. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Why is it so hard to find lifeguards? In recent years it has become more difficult to find certified lifeguards for the morning children’s swim time. In March of every year we begin to contact the swim coaches and swim instructors at Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Smoky Hill, Overland and Gateway High Schools to recruit certified lifeguards. We also contact the parks and recreation centers in the surrounding areas to see if they know of any available lifeguards. We have also contacted Red Cross and other organizations that teach and certify GUEST PRIVILEGES FOR THE OUTDOOR POOL O O Guests are defined as those persons not possessing a WG identification card, but who are invited and accompanied by a resident at all times. O O Guests are required to pay a fee of $1 per visit. O O Guests must always be accompanied by the sponsoring resident who is responsible for the actions of their guests at all times. O O Guests will be limited to four per resident at one time. O O Residents are not to loan their guests the resident’s I.D. card. O O Guests under 17 years, accompanied by a resident, may use the pool and the surrounding area only when a lifeguard is on duty between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and only if accompanied in the pool by the res ident who is their sponsor. O O Guests 17 years of age and older, accompanied by a resident, may use the pool during regular hours. O O Temporary I.D. cards may be requested through theAdministration Office for temporary, out-of-town guests, providing they are at least 17 years of age and are staying with a resident at least one week. Guests holding temporary cards must be accompanied by a resident. LIFEGUARD NEEDED lifeguards. Some years we are successful at recruiting, some years not so much. The last two years our success has come through the residents of Windsor Gardens. Last year it was through Facebook. This year a friend of a soon-to-be resident knew a lifeguard. It takes a village! What happens on those days when a lifeguard isn’t available? If there is a day when we do not have a lifeguard on duty, we post a large sign in CenterPoint lobby outside the Activities Office. If we will have an extended time without a lifeguard, we will have schedules posted outside the Activities Office. You are always welcome to contact the Activities Office if you are planning to have the kiddies come and swim. Be assured that we will do our very best to provide the residents with lifeguards on a daily basis. We do not like to disappoint those adorable grandkids any more than Grandma or Grandpa do!
