CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL COLORADO ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTEERS, WG CHAPTER will hold their regular, monthly meeting on Monday, June 18, at 9:30 a.m. in the COLORADO ROOM. All are welcome to join us to hear our fundraising plans as well as news from a representative of the hospital. We would like to thank everyone who attended our May Capture the Flag fundraiser. Fun was had by all! At our June meeting we will be finalizing our plans for our 39th Annual Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, July 10. Please check the WINDSOR HAPPENINGS section for details. If you have any questions, want to purchase one of our 40th Anniversary Cookbooks or would like to donate any yarn or material for projects for the hospital, please contact Bernadine Dzierson, President,, at 720-949-1779. CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL BLOOD DRIVE: Thank you to those who signed up to donate blood for CHC on May 24. Twenty-one units of blood were donated, which could help serve up to 105 children! We could not have done it without each and every one of you who signed up. Thank you from Jeanne Lee and Ruth Napier, Blood Drive Co-Chairs. DEMOCRATIC BOOK CLUB will meet Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in the home of Dot Sobol, 615 S. Alton Way, #8B, 303-363-9125. We will be discussing the second half of Walter Isaacson's new biography, “Leonardo da Vinci”. DEMOCRATIC CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26. We are looking forward to hosting a spokesperson from Clean Slate Now, a group dedicated to meaningful campaign finance reform for Denver municipal elections with "People Not Money" as their motto. They believe that the system will change when we stop voting for elected officials who prioritize special interests over public interests. As the legislative session has come to an end, we will also hear from State Senator Lois Court. Among her many Senate duties, she is assigned to the Veteran and Military Affairs Committee. Her reports are always informative and pertinent to residents of WG. New members are welcome! We stress power to the voters through education. Please join us for dinner at Blossoms @ 5:30 p.m. for food and fun before the meeting. DRUM CIRCLE: Drop in and enjoy drumming with other WG residents most Sunday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the COLORADO ROOM. We go off campus the last Sunday of the month and drum at assisted living homes. GAME GROUP: : Do you have a favorite game you like to play such as Scrabble, Mexican Train, Canasta or others? Join a group of folks who enjoy games of all types. Bring your favorite games , a snack and friends to share this delightful evening. We meet the third Friday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the COLORADO ROOM. KARAOKE GROUP: We’re back! Monday, June 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be our next group get-together. Going forward, we will meet every 4th Monday. We will be singing this summer and beyond in CENTERPOINT WEST. Join in on the fun! LAPIDARY CLUB meets Friday and Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Rocks, gems, jewelry, bookends, cut/polish, and tumble. The lapidary shop is located south of the outdoor pool, near the horseshoe pit. Drop by and meet others. Questions? Call Larry 720-256-3359. MARINE CORP LEAGUE DETACHMENT will meet on June 12 at 19:00 in CENTERPOINT. Please attend and join in this brotherhood of fellow Marines. We need all the help y’all can provide by donating items for our participation in the WG ‘Garage’ Sale in July. We are raising funds for our various programs including support for wounded warriors, youth programs and scholarships. Call so we can arrange to pick up any donated items for the sale. MARINE CORP LEAGUE AUXILIARY supports the Marine Corps, Marine families, wounded warriors, youth programs, scholarships, and a variety of Marine and Veteran programs and activities. We are sure there are many eligible ladies (any Marine relation) in WG, and we would like to welcome you to join us as members of the extended Marine family. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in CENTERPOINT. Our next meeting is Tuesday, June 12, at 19:00. Semper Fidelis. OPTIMIST CLUB meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 8 a.m. for breakfast in the BLOSSOMS BANQUET ROOM. If you would like to attend to learn more about the Optimists, please join us for a complimentary breakfast and program. June 13 : The speaker will be Chuck Thompson, President of Youth Connect (formally known as the Colorado Boys Ranch), which provides troubled youth with a means to become hopeful and productive citizens. He will update us on the services and programs that are provided by Youth Connect. In August the Optimists will host a summer picnic to benefit Youth Connect. June 27: The speaker, Henry Barlow Ph.D., will speak about preserving social security and Medicare . NOW – New Optimists Welcome: Are you interested in being an Optimist and being involved in projects that help youth? Perhaps you could attend a weekend or an evening meeting. PERFORMING ARTS GROUP (PAG) will meet Wednesday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. This will be a social event/pot luck dinner in CENTERPOINT. Please come and give us feedback on our recent performances. WINDSOR SOCIAL GROUP: Come join us for our first Windsor Gardens Social Group gathering on Friday, July 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the COLORADO ROOM. We will have a variety of music, good conversation and once in a while a line dance to join or learn together. If you’re not into the "bar scene", karaoke or formal dance activities, you can join other fun seeking neighbors here. Bring your favorite snacks and a non-alcoholic beverage. Our regular meeting day will be the last Friday of the month, same time and location.
