Windsor Gardens Life
June 2018 Page 5 you and your fellow residents are the decision-makers. The role and authority of the committees and the board is clearly defined in the governing documents of this community, and all who serve work hard to fulfill their responsibilities accordingly. Management and all of the employees here at Windsor Gardens act on behalf of and at the direction of the Board of Directors. Again, I thank you for participating in this process by making your voice heard. I hope I have helped clarify the process that has taken place in coming to some of the decisions you have commented on in your letter. Tami Bonner, General Manager of Windsor Gardens Grateful for Our HOA Management Having lived in a condo where the HOA was useless and the Board of Directors was corrupt, making decisions that were bad for the property and costly for the homeowners as well as stealing the HOA's money, I am pleased and impressed with how well our HOA and all levels of management run this place. Despite aging buildings they have made major repairs and upgrades without needing a special assessment. Good money management. Don't take it for granted. Consider yourself lucky. I know I do. Suzy Hopkins Enjoying Life at WG I bought a condo and moved to Windsor Gardens in 2005, not realizing just what a spectacular lifestyle I was in for! I discovered WG in 1983 shortly after moving to Denver from Cheyenne. I rode my bicycle or jogged on the High Line and decided one day to stop and see what this facility was all about. I was told by a very sweet, white-haired lady at the desk (the original farm house was still being used) that if I wanted to live here, come back in twenty years, which I did. Living in WG has a lot of perks for me. I do miss my flower gardens but not the yard work. Thank you maintenance for the beautiful landscaping and for all the times you are out keeping the sidewalks shoveled on those wintry days. Board in Motion Architectural Review Committee motion to remove the purple walk- off carpet in the prototype Building 53 and to replace it with brown walk-off carpet. Finance Committee motion to transfer $323,479.00 to the capital reserve account. Finance Committee motion to transfer $193,400.47 to the tax reserve account. Motion to transfer $193,400.47 from the Association’s operating account with Union Bank to the Raymond James tax reserve account. Motion to approve the proposed amendment to the Storage Policy. Motion to approve the proposed amendment to the Waste and Recycling Policy. Motion to allow an exception to the Occupancy Restrictions Policy. Motion to deny a request for a temporary age exception. Motions to proceed with the judicial foreclosure of two units. The Windsor Gardens Board of Directors approved the following motions during their May 25, 2018, meeting. Be a Windsor Gardens Board Member! Have you ever thought of serving as a Windsor Gardens Board Member? This may be the year to consider using your skills and experience to help shape the future of Windsor Gardens! Potential Board Candidates Q&A Meeting Saturday, July 14 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aspen Room (located above the Auditorium) LETTERS continued from page 4 I started up an errand business about four years ago. I have enjoyed the perks that go along with it. I’ve met and become friends with former presidents of the Board of Directors, taking them shopping and to appointments. I’ve enjoyed the friendships with retirees from all types of backgrounds, including former Korean War fighter pilots who became commercial pilots with American and United Airlines. I’ve met retired professors, educators, librarians and the list goes on. Not surprisingly, most of my neighbors are from sister states, giving us “old rural folks” a chance to talk about the yesteryears. Did you know the great-niece of Max Fleischer resides at WG? Her uncle created Betty Boop. I feel privileged to belong to the WG Writers Group, a unique and warm group of storytellers. Some even have published novels. My life’s circle will come to an end someday. My last journey to the unknown won’t be so bad. I’m having fun being part of the “old fogies” group at WG. Diane Parker Expecting the Best rather than the Worst Let us as a community venerate the best in one another rather than seeking out demise and growling with disapproving eyeballs. Working in human resources and managing others I found it most effective to talk “with” another rather than "at" them. I am confident the Board of Directors and governing committees are not out to cause anyone grief in any respect. To my knowledge these elected persons are SERVING for free ... volunteering their mind, heart, resources and TIME. All committees are to maintain and improve quality of life and structural integrity of OUR community. Rather than pontificate please participate. Let us emulate a constructive tone and count our blessings. Jennay McMillan
