Windsor Gardens Life

Windsor Life Page 6 From Tami Bonner, General Manager Activities Director Cynthia Courtney will soon be retiring and leaving Windsor Gardens. How do you describe in a few words the impact of an employee like Cynthia Courtney? It won’t be easy or adequate, but I will try. Cynthia began her employ at Windsor Gardens more than 17 years ago in February of 2001. In that time, she has taken a good Activities Department and made it great. She has more than doubled the class opportunities, added trips of all kinds and amped up the entertainment program significantly. She has overseen the construction of a new outdoor pool area, indoor locker facilities and a new fitness center. Dances, coffees, teas and lunches all run seamlessly under her direction. And on the rare occasion there is a glitch, you usually don’t know about it because Cynthia has calmly stepped in and fixed the issue. The Activities Director Cynthia Courtney to Retire pride she has taken in this department and in the community overall is evident in everything she does. Although these things are important in the history of Windsor Gardens, they are not what most of the community will remember as Cynthia’s greatest legacy. What they will remember will be her kindness and concern for the residents she has served. She has a great love for the people of Windsor Gardens, and she has spent the last 17 years showing that in so many ways. She will be greatly missed. We wish Cynthia the best in all of her future endeavors and know she will be an asset wherever she goes. Please join us as we thank Cynthia for all she has done and send her off with our best wishes at a coffee in her honor, Friday, June 29, in the Windsor Gardens Auditorium from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Goodbye Coffee for Cynthia Courtney Friday, June 29 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Auditorium Prices starting at: Small Dogs $ 25 Med. Even this article has a voice that you can choose to listen to or to ignore. The question is: what voices are you listening to? Your own voice? The voice who yells the loudest or the most often? Even if your voice is small and quiet, your opinion matters. Living at Windsor Gardens gives you great opportunities to make your voice heard. One way to make your voice heard is to write a letter to the Board of Directors and drop it off in the office. Any of the ladies up front can take it and make sure it is given to the board. (You may notice that we have a few new faces up front. Marilyn Tyler, Roni Reynolds and Susan Hunt are all part-time faces at the front desk; please welcome them. They can answer questions and write receipts and almost anything Tina and I do.) Another way that you can voice your opinion is to send an email to the Board of Directors by using the email address board@ wgamail.com . Both of these options are great ways to make some forward motion toward your concern, opinion about a policy, or a complaint. Be bold and speak up, and please be kind in HOW you speak up. We have had a few people stop in the office and voice their concerns or complaints about various things. If you want us to listen, we can do that as long as we have a few moments. But if you want things to move forward in your desired direction, put it in writing so we can help you to be heard. The responsibility of the employees in the office is to carry out the rules of Windsor Gardens. We cannot create them or change them. That is up to all of you, the homeowners, and who you elect to the Board of Directors. Each voice is important, valuable and appreciated. In this country, we have freedom of speech. Don’t take that for granted. Until next time, this is “Up Front with Liz and Tina.”
