Kiewit Building Group Inc.
broke ground on the Old Town
Transit Hub, which includes
a 606-stall parking structure,
eight-bay regional bus facility
and four pedestrian plazas, in
Arvada’s Olde Town district.
Located just east of the iconic
water tower between Vance
Street and Olde Wadsworth,
and north of the Landmark
Theater, the facility will serve
the future Gold Line commut-
er rail expansion from Denver
Union Station. The four-story
parking structure will be avail-
able for commuters and help
alleviate a current lack of park-
ing for Olde Town patrons.
Under a CMGC contract,
RNL Architects and Kiewit,
with the client’s representative
Trammell Crow Co.’s assis-
tance, are collaborating on the
design of the facility within the
“challenging” construction site.
Bordering an active BNSF rail
line, the site is located on a
steep slope with close proxim-
ity to two historic attractions,
which presented design chal-
lenges, Kiewit noted.
Scheduled to be completed
by spring 2016, Kiewit will start
with an early constructionpack-
age that includes demolition,
excavation, shoring walls and
preliminary utility work, before
the building phase begins.
Kiewit plans to continuously
communicate with local area
residents and business owners
regarding upcoming activities
and potential disruptions.
