Husch Blackwell’s Denver
office will make the move to
the Union Station neighbor-
hood in January.
The company became the
first tenant to lease space in
Union Tower West, a mixed-
use building Portman Hold-
ings is developing at 1801
Wewatta St. It will occupy
36,272 square feet on the ninth
and 10th floors.
“We are excited about
expanding our Denver team
in a building of this caliber,”
said Kevin Kelley, managing
partner of Husch Blackwell’s
Denver office. “The location
of the building also has spe-
cial significance to us as Husch
Blackwell worked on the rede-
velopment of Union Station’s
historic building as well as the
development, leasing and sale
of the north wing building.”
Kelley said the new loca-
tion right next to Union Sta-
tion will be more convenient
for employees and clients, and
also offers more options for
future growth.
“We also really like the idea
of being able to take advantage
of the new Train to the Plane,
which will be great for our law-
yers who are traveling from or
flying into DIA,” he said.
Union Tower West, Port-
man’s first development in
Denver, will have 100,000 sf
of office space above a 180-
room Hotel Indigo. There also
will be 10,000 sf of restaurant/
retail space and a large out-
door plaza. A grand opening is
anticipated in December.
“We knew this location
would be very special when
we started this project in 2014,”
said Portman Holdings Direc-
tor of Leasing Travis Garland.
“It’s been a pleasure to share
the vision for the building with
Husch Blackwell. Having such
a prestigious law firm as a part
of this project sets the tone for
what we believe is the best
location in downtown Denver.”
Garland represented the
ownership with Jonathan Jones
of Colliers International. Sven
Sykes and Jason Sheehy, also
of Colliers, represented Husch
Blackwell, which currently
occupies 31,182 sf in the Wells
Fargo Center at 1700 Lincoln
St.

CBC Advisors recently
acquired Coldwell Banker
Commercial Alliance from
Sutherland Asset Management,
creating the largest Coldwell
Banker Commercial affiliate
globally. The deal comprised
10 CBC Alliance offices, includ-
ing the one in Denver.
“This historic acquisition
and resulting expansion create
a powerful national footprint,
restoring the most respect-
ed brand in commercial real
estate,” Brandon Fugal, chair-
man of CBC Advisors, said in
a statement. The company now
operates 28 offices across the
country.
“By

as a trusted
adviser to cli-
ents on a local, national and
international basis,” said Lew
Cramer, president and CEO of
the Salt Lake City-based com-
pany.
“We’ve established a domi-
nant record of excellence as
the largest and top perform-
ing commercial real estate
brokerage in the intermoun-
tain west. Our leadership team
understands how to succeed
in the Rocky Mountain region
through decades of tried expe-
rience and surely believes that
Denver is the perfect market
to further deploy our agent-
centric platform,” he said.
Cramer said the acquisition
brings institutional-quality
tools, technology and resources
to the Denver office, which is
operated by Ben Gilliam and
Jon Treter. Those include best-
in-class mapping, data and
other resources that allow the
firm to compete against any of
the top commercial real estate
firms and to attract clients
nationally. “We are much more
than just a local service unit,”
he said.
CBC Advisors offers a “quick
and nimble” corporate struc-
ture. “We want to empower
our agents to focus on their
clients and grow their book of
business,” he said. “We feel
like the best investment we can
make is in our agents.”
Cramer said CBC Advisors
is in a growth mode nationally
and in Denver. “We intend to
grow the market. We believe
we can expand because we can
provide a national scope to our
brokers in Denver,” he said.
CBC Advisors has quadru-
pled in size over the past three
years.
