ebrates Picnic and Fa-
ther’s day.

26 May: Dr. Bapu Uppalunni an aer-
onautics engineer from Dallas, Dr.
Chandramouly’s, retired doctor from
New York AND John Banks a retired
logistic manager are the visiting guest
members for this meeting. John is im-
pressed with Hindu religion and so has
become Hindu by ideology and belief.
All members celebrated 50th Wedding
anniversary of Mr. Mahendra Dave
and Mrs. Tarla Dave. Mahendra Dave
was happy to mention that they are
currently staying at Shanti Niketan,
Florida, and their son is here, and they
had been here for an extended period
and are happy to be here again.
2nd June: Samir and Hema Patel
from Phoenix, Sadhna Todkar from
India, Lataben a professional caterer
from Tuscon, Ursula, a teacher joined
us for the day.
9th June: Picnic In House: Had a
true in-house picnic at the center since
sizzling heat prohibited members from
opting for a picnic outside. Meenaben
Bhavsar with the help of enthusiastic
volunteers served pakora, chips, can-
taloupe and tea to all the members
around 11:30 am. There was BINGO!
All members enthusiastically partici-
pated. Mahendrabhai Devgania and
Taraben Patel managed the game
very efficiently. With lots of excite-
ment Anju Shah (Two wins), Jayshree
Kshatriya andMeena Kotecha emerged
as the winners. Like outside picnic,
card games, table tennis, and other
fun activities continued tall through-
out. Baljit Kaur, a friend of Ushaji from
Chandigarh, Lataben Shah, a friend of
Prem and Krishna Lahoti from Tempe,
Piyush Shah, and Chirag Shah, friends
of Prakash Deshmukh joined us dur-
ing the picnic. Piyush Shah and Chirag
Shah made an announcement about
Jain Center’s program of Pujya Gu-
rudev Rakeshbhai’s visit to Phoenix.
In-house picnic ended with delicious
lunch that included Khichadi, Shaak,
Curd and Shiro (Halwa).
16th June: Celebrated Fathers day in
a different manner this year. The tra-
ditional flowers giving was replaced by
more active and entertaining games
including Lemon and spoon race, Mu-
sical chair, Passing the Parcel, organ-
ized by Meenaben Bhavsar and sup-
ported by Meena Kotecha. More than
25 members participated in the games.
Bhagubhai Patel, our senior and
founder member, closed the “Passing
the parcel” game by briefly mention-
ing about his father who was a farmer
and educated up to 7th standard could
inculcate the value of education to all
the children who with the help of Bh-
agubhai could finally migrate to USA
with good education and settled well.
Bhagubhai is extending technical and
financial educational assistance to a
school back home in his native place
named after his father.

drika and Jasvant Patel, Manjuben Pa-
tel and Manubhai and Shardaben Patel
sponsored lunch during this month.
