RTD is Half Price for Seniors
The letter in the February Windsor Life regarding RTD did not include
some very important information. Seniors 65 and over can travel on
RTD for half price. A one-way trip including transfer is $1.30 and a
full day pass allowing unlimited local rides on bus and rail is $2.60.
These can be purchased on the bus with proof of age. This is a
bargain. When purchasing on RTD buses, correct change is required
as drivers do not carry cash.
RTD recently announced the discontinuance of a route within Heather
Gardens due to low ridership. More use of RTD by local residents
would help assure its continued operation within Windsor Gardens,
a vital service for a number of our residents who have no alternative.

Thank You, Community Response
Many thanks to all of you who answered my call early Wednesday
morning, February 24. I feel that your quick response and ability
to calmly do your job and get me to the hospital saved me a lot of
anxiety and worry.
The residents here in Windsor Gardens are fortunate to have such
a professional and caring group of people right here to help us. I am
sure that everyone that has called on you to help them for whatever
crisis they are facing at the time will agree with me and send kudos
to you.
Thank you for caring for us every day!

Recycling
From a vantage point on the 4th floor, our view is unobstructed when
the Waste Management bin is rolled from the building to the truck on
garbage pickup day. Often, the trash fills the bin to overflowing.
Ironically, the City of Denver recycling bin is often dumped into its
truck half filled. Considering the fact that the ease of recycling plastics,
paper and glass is simplified, no separation is necessary, the disparity
between the amount of unusable landfill material and that which can
be reclaimed should provide an important object lesson for us as
residents of Windsor Gardens.
One of Denver’s 2020 Sustainability Goals calls for the recycling of
materials to increase from the 2014 16% to 34% or more.
As citizens are reminded of one way of attaining the sensible goal of
sustainability in everyday life, we usually rise to the occasion.
