WINDSOR
PRESIDENT’S PEN
Looking Ahead
Last week the Board
and
Long
Range
Planning
Committee
began a thirty-year
visioning process. To
me personally the idea
of long range is getting
shorter. My father
died at fifty-four and
my older and younger brothers never
reached seventy. I can slow, but not stop
the process of my aging. I can and do
make choices that hopefully will benefit
my grandchildren and the world that they
will inherit.
In our first planning meeting we took a
detailed look at our present situation and
tried to imagine the Windsor Gardens of
2045 that is presently being shaped by
the choices our board and committees
will be making this year.
We are taking seriously the natural
process of entropy. Our buildings,
systems and equipment are wearing out.
We are examining the growing costs of
assuring our quality of life and weighing
the options: shall we continue to repair
or in the long run is it wiser to replace.
We are looking at what similar
communities are doing, what new
technologies are emerging, seeking out
experts and organizations that could
help us decide the best course.
Most important, just as owners in the
past have done we will be developing
models to finance the emerging Windsor
Gardens.
