Become a Mediator
Comprehensive Training
Learn the mediation process, get an
introduction to the Colorado court system,
discuss approaches to problem solving,
study interest-based negotiation, and learn
about professional standards of conduct for
mediators. This workshop meets the basic
training guidelines recommended by the
Mediation Association of Colorado; students
who successfully complete it will be granted
a certificate of training completion.
Seminar I: Introduction to conflict and its
sources, Alternative Dispute Resolution
(ADR) and mediation.
Seminar II: Introduction to the facilitative
mediation process and the mediator’s role;
begin role-playing.
Seminar III: Introduction to communication
and facilitation skills in mediation, co-
mediation and caucus.
Seminar IV: Discussion of mediation and
negotiations, managing intense emotions,
breaking impasse; continue role-playing.
Seminar V: Discussion of mediator ethics
and mediation as a career.
Jo-Marie Lisa
was trained as a mediator by
CDR Associates in Boulder, CO and has been
practicing mediation professionally since
1994. She taught mediation/arbitration at
the University of Denver School Of Law for
three years and then began teaching at the
University of Denver, University College in
the M.A., ADR program.
Theresa Marrone
is a professionally trained mediator who
works at Regis University as an academic
advisor where her mediation skills come into
play on a daily basis. Note: CLE credits are
available for attorneys.

Colorado Notary Training
Demand for notaries

legal documents.
Becoming a notary can benefit you in
your current job or become a source of
additional income. This two-hour course
approved by the Colorado Secretary of
State fulfills the requirements of that
State Statute 12-55-101. Learn notary
law, processes and guidelines, and how
to conduct proper notary transactions.
Work through a sample exam in class so
that you know what to expect when you
take your online exam. Students will be
issued a certificate upon completion of
the training and an additional certificate
upon successfully passing the state
administered exam.

Notary signing agents can earn between
$50 to $250 per signing when notarizing
documents like 1st and 2nd mortgages,

documents. This training prepares notaries

(VBA) or bankruptcy petition preparer
allows you to tap a lucrative niche market
by providing certain services to debtors,
such as helping to prepare the complicated
petitions, schedules, and related documents
associated with Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Properly trained VBAs can work part time
or even earn full time wages as the average
filing fees range between $299 and $500.
Learn what you need to know to successfully
file Chapter 7 documents. Topics include
VBA responsibilities according to the
law; what VBAs can and can’t do; filing
requirements such as credit counseling and
debtor education;
completing the Chapter
7 petition, forms, and exemptions; and
amending a Chapter 7 petition. Class is
perfect for commissioned notary publics.
