Consilium Design has been
chosen by Flightline Ventures
LLC to provide land planning
and landscape architecture for
the 22-acre historic Stanley Avi-
ation site in Aurora.
Consilium Design will work
with the Stanley Marketplace
development team to re-create
the property into a mixed-use
commercial retail and event
center that will offer offices, din-
ing, retail, specialty grocer and
recreation amenities, including
a six-acre open space park with
terraces and event terraces com-
plementing the commercial and
retail marketplace.
“Stanley Marketplace will
become the cornerstone rede-
velopment for the Westerly
Creek Village Urban Renewal
Plan in northwest Aurora, Colo-
rado, adjacent to the nationally
and internationally acclaimed
Stapleton, Denver, Colorado,
master-planned community,”
said Craig Karn, president of
Consilium Design. “The Stan-
ley Marketplace will become
a vibrant neighborhood desti-
nation center for the commu-
nity. It will add a wonderful
environmental experience in
this renewed economic devel-
opment, cultural, historical set-
ting.”
The project is scheduled to
open in fall 2015.
The project team also includes
White Construction Group,
gkkworks, ME Group, Studio
NYL and Jansen Strawn.
Originally constructed in 1954
and added onto several times,
for years the 133,000-square-
foot property and the surround-
ing 22 acres at 2501 Dallas St.
in Aurora, was the home of
Stanley Aviation, an avionics
manufacturer, until it closed in
2009. The building and land has
been vacant since.
At the Stanley building, pro-
posed mezzanine additions
will boost the square footage
to roughly 144,000 sf with sur-
rounding land available for fur-
ther development.

Pinkard Construction Co. has
begun construction on the new
$1.5 million Urban Scouting
Adventure Center for the Boy
Scouts of America Denver Area
Council.
Working with Venture Archi-
tecture of Denver, Pinkard Con-
struction is converting 20,000
square feet of unoccupied space
into an indoor climbing facil-
ity; air rifle and archery ranges;
educational kitchen space; mul-
tipurpose/performance areas;
classrooms; and office spaces.
Enhanced outdoor facilities
will include an urban camp-
ing environment and campfire
meet areas.
Mechanical/electrical retro-
fits include the removal and
replacement of electrical equip-
ment and distribution system
and a revised mechanical distri-
bution system to accommodate
the new space.
Though the project is not pur-
suing a specific LEED rating, it
will incorporate many LEED
elements that are “advanta-
geous to the function, durabil-
ity and success of the project.”
The Urban Scouting Adven-
ture Center is located in the Boy
Scouts’ Frederic C. Hamilton
Scout Headquarters on West
Sixth Avenue in Lakewood.
Additionally, Urban Peak,
with Pinkard Construction Co.,
City Projects and Shopworks
Architecture dedicated the
newly renovated Rox’s Place
supportive youth housing facil-
ity with a ribbon-cutting and
building dedication Oct. 24.
The $1 million renovation to
the 50-year-old facility at 1548
Ogden St. in Denver included
upgrades of individual living
units, plumbing, mechanical,
electrical and fire protection ret-
rofits as well as Americans with
Disabilities Act upgrades.
“With these improvements,
Urban Peak can now offer
youth ages 16 through 24 a safe
and comfortable place to live
as they build the confidence
and skills necessary to main-
tain permanent, stable hous-
ing,” said Kim Easton, CEO of
Urban Peak. “It’s remarkable
what a supportive community
environment can do for youth
as they exit the streets and find
their own path to success in
school or work.”
Rox’s Place is dedicated to
former Urban Peak CEO Rox-
anne White. Rocky Mountain
Youth Housing is the support-
ive youth program operating
at Rox’s Place and provides
36 units of supportive hous-
ing; a community room for life
skills classes, case management
meetings and informal gather-
ings; an updated laundry room;
meeting space; and accessible
units to meet the needs of
residents.
